Two Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorists Arrested From Kishtwar

Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists arrested from Kishtwar: Jammu Kashmir.

Police have arrested two terrorists of terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen from Kishtwar district of Jammu division.

It is being told that both the arrested terrorists had joined Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization some time back.

Kishtwar Police has started further action by registering a case against the terrorists caught on Monday.

Both the arrested terrorists have been identified as Yasir Hussain’s son Ghulam Rasool resident of Saunder tehsil Dutch and Usman Qadir’s son Ghulam Qadir resident of Tunder Tasahil Dachchan.

Both these terrorists had suddenly disappeared from the house since August 5.

Police station Dutch had received information that both the said youths had joined the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization.

Keeping this in view, the police launched a search operation on August 8 in Kishtwar on the basis of solid information.

During the search operation under the leadership of SSP Kishtwar Shafkat Hussain, DSP Operation Devendra Singh Bandral, Inspector Dilraj Singh, Army’s 17 Rashtriya Rifles, 52nd Battalion of CRPF, and Additional SP Kishtwar succeeded in catching two terrorists.

A case has been registered against both the arrested terrorists at the police station Dachchan. Weapons have also been recovered from both. The search operation is still going on in the said area.

Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir was earlier a part of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. The foundation of Jamaat in Jammu and Kashmir was laid by Saaduddin Tarabali in the year 1945 along with his four companions.

Tarabali was its president till 1985. In the year 1952, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind distanced itself from it in view of the anti-India activities and ideology of Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir.

After this, in November 1953, Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir prepared a new constitution of the region.

Before 1969, Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir itself never participated in assembly, Lok Sabha, or Panchayat elections in Kashmir.

But it did support independents and sometimes candidates of a particular party.

However, in the 1969 Panchayat elections, members of the Jamaat were seen participating in electoral riots at many places. Jamaat participated in the 1971 assembly elections but lost.

In the next election, Jamaat contested 22 seats and won only five seats. In 1975, the Jamaat openly opposed the Indira Gandhi-Sheikh Abdullah Pact.

After this, the Jamaat could win only one assembly seat in the 1977 elections. Contested 26 seats in 1983 and lost.

After this, in 1987, it contested elections in Kashmir under the banner of the Muslim United Front of Kashmir, a coalition formed by organizations of various Islamic and separatist ideologies.

The importance of the Jamaat in the electoral politics of Kashmir can be gauged from the fact that after 1990.

The campaign of the boycott of the separatist camp has been successful only when the Jamaat has supported it.
