Tension Continues Between China And The US

Tension continues between China and the US amidst power transfer in the US, Beijing bans US officials. The tension continues with China in the process of power transfers.

Beijing has warned the US to explicitly stop interfering in the case of Hong Kong and Taiwan. The statement from Beijing came in response to the US sanctions imposed on China and Hong Kong officials.

The South China Morning Post quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Chunying as saying that the US has clearly intervened in Hong Kong by banning six key Chinese and Hong Kong officials over the mass arrests of more than 50 pro-democracy politicians and activists.

China has announced sanctions on officials intervening in Beijing and Hong Kong against the US move. This move by China has increased tensions between the two countries.

This bitterness between the two countries has arisen at a time when the process of power transfer has started in the US. The newly elected President Joe Biden will enter the White House.

China reacted against American action. A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the US authorities would be banned. The spokesperson did not announce the names of the banned US officials.

He said that mutual sanctions would be imposed on those who were responsible for major action on Hong Kong. The Spokesperson said that in this regard, whether it is a US official, a member of Congress or a member of an NGO, China will ban them.

The spokesperson insisted that the US should stop interfering in Hong Kong’s case immediately. This is an internal matter of China. Beijing has said that this move by the US poses a threat to China’s national security.

The spokesperson said that on 16 January, the US nominated six Chinese and Hong Kong officials for their role in implementing the National Security Act in Hong Kong.
