Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy reached Siddipet on Monday evening following an uproar after the alleged seizure of Rs 18.67 lakh from the house of a close relative of the BJP candidate for the Dubbak by-election M Raghunandan Rao.
Raghunandan’s relative has been identified as Surabhi Anjan Rao. After the raid, BJP workers alleged that the police created the whole story by bringing money in a bag by themselves.
However, Siddipet police said, ‘18.67 lakh cash was seized, out of which BJP workers snatched Rs 12 lakh and fled from the spot.’
Siddipet Police Commissioner Joel Davis said, “The remaining 5,87,000 rupees have been seized by the Siddipet’s Executive Magistrate.” Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by the police after reaching Siddipet, where the raids were conducted.
Speaking about the seizure, Siddipet’s Police Commissioner said that raids were conducted at three places, including the house of Siddipet municipal chairman Raja Narsa.
Meanwhile Andhra Pradesh police seized illegal liquor, one person arrested
West Godavari, Kovvur Special Enforcement Bureau police on Monday arrested a lorry driver after raiding his residence and its owner and seized liquor illegally transported from Kolkata to Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, the driver has been identified as Mo Ahmad Alishah, a resident of Nidadavol town. The liquor was transported from Kolkata to Andhra Pradesh. Based on reliable information, the Kodavuru SEB team raided the house of MD Ahmed Alishah in Nidadavol town.
He is the driver of a lorry. After interrogation, the police seized 25 full liquor items of 300 full liquor. “The police also raided his owner’s house in Samishragudem village and seized 15 cases of liquor and 10 boxes of whiskey.
Police said the cost of liquor is Rs 5 lakh in Kolkata and Rs 10 lakh in Andhra Pradesh. The driver was arrested and sent on remand.
