TDP leader accused of sexual harassment of a minor, he has been suspended from the party.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Vijayawada parliamentary constituency president Nettam Raghuram on Sunday suspended party leader Vinod Kumar Jain.

The leader was suspended from the party after allegations of sexual assault of a minor and alleged suicide of a minor surfaced.

West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hanumantha Rao said that a minor girl committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of her apartment building on Saturday.

The girl wrote in her suicide note that she was ending her life due to sexual harassment by TDP party leader Vinod Jain, who lives in the same building.

Rao said that we are looking for accused Vinod Jain, who is an activist of some prominent political party in Andhra Pradesh. He had recently contested from 37th Division as a corporation in the last election.

ACP Hanumantha Rao further said that a case has been registered against the accused Vinod Jain under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Commission for Women Chairperson Vasireddy Padma said that she has taken the matter as a serious offense and ordered an inquiry into the incident.

State Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has also expressed grief over the incident, he said.

He has directed strict action against the accused and assured justice to the minor’s family.
