The humiliating withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is the result of the Pakistan-backed Taliban seizing power in Kabul.

Former US National Security Advisor (NSA) General (retd) HR McMaster said this on Wednesday during a Congressional hearing on Afghanistan.

McMaster told members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the situation in South Asia is extremely dangerous.

He believed that this would benefit China. The Pakistani government and military pursue jihadi groups in a limited way.

He said that the world and America are in a far more dangerous situation than they were on 10 September 2001.
