Taliban leader meets Chinese ambassador in Kabul, discusses bilateral relations.

Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy head of the Taliban political office in Qatar, met with Wang Yu, the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan, in Kabul on Tuesday.

Sputnik quoted Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem as saying that they discussed the security of the Chinese embassy and diplomats, the current situation in Afghanistan, bilateral relations, and China’s humanitarian assistance.

After the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan, on the one hand, foreign nationals and their Afghan allies are trying to leave the country.

On the other hand, China has kept its embassy in Kabul open. Earlier media reports had said that China was ready to recognize the terrorist group if the Taliban were successful in ousting the democratically elected government.

The Taliban began occupying key districts in Afghanistan in May, and on August 15 it took over the war-torn country.

The recent withdrawal of US forces after a 20-year presence in Afghanistan paved the way for the Taliban to control vast areas of Afghanistan.

Beijing has raised concerns about groups affiliated with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), despite growing ties with the Taliban.

China told the Taliban delegation last month that it was a direct threat to its national security and territorial integrity.

China said countering  ETIM was a common responsibility of the international community, a statement from China’s foreign ministry said.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered this message during a meeting with the head of the Afghan Taliban Political Commission, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, in Tianjin on Wednesday.

It said, “We expect the Afghan Taliban to sever ties with all terrorist organizations, including the ETIM, to play a positive role in countering them to create conditions conducive to security, stability, development, and cooperation in the region.”

The deadline for the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan has come close.

At the same time, it is being feared that the complete withdrawal of the army of other countries including America will be possible by September or later. Britain has given direct indications of this.

Britain says the Taliban should assure the international world that it will not obstruct the withdrawal of troops after August.

On the other hand, the Taliban has said in very clear words that it is not ready to give a deadline beyond August for the withdrawal of foreign forces under any circumstances.
