Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that government officials should take effective steps for the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley, who were forced to stay out of their homes.
Kashmiri displaced Pandits are living in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and other parts of the country besides abroad.
Jammu and Kashmir authorities should carry out a comprehensive process of reaching out to the Kashmiri displaced families.
Reviewing the functioning of the Department of Disaster Management, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction.
The Lieutenant Governor said that we have to first ensure that the entire population of Kashmiri migrants is registered with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Many Kashmiri Pandits have become old and want to return to their homes.
Some families are well established but want to come back to their homeland and register as Kashmiri migrants. We have to work sensitively and sincerely on this issue.
It is the responsibility of the government to make the dream of thousands of Kashmiri displaced Pandits come true and the administration should take effective steps.
The Lieutenant Governor said that Kashmiri migrants should get their benefits. The development works should be completed on time.
The work of the residential facility should be completed in the stipulated time:
The Lieutenant Governor said that the work of providing residential facilities to the displaced Kashmiri workers should be completed within the stipulated time.
The work of the housing facility in Ganderbal should be completed by November this year. Residential flats should be built in Shopian by March 2022 and in Baramulla and Bandipora by November 2022.
If any officer is found responsible for the delay in construction work, then action will be taken against him. Tenders for the work should be floated after discussing with the concerned officials.
It should also be ensured that no ineligible person gets the benefit. No one should be able to take advantage of the residential facility illegally.
Temporary facility for displaced Kashmiri workers:
Earlier, Secretary, Disaster Management Department, Simrandeep Singh gave detailed information about the functioning of the department.
He said that under the Prime Minister’s Development Package, three thousand jobs have been given and six thousand flats are to be built.
Referring to the temporary facility for the displaced Kashmiri workers in Kashmir, he said that 304 flats are being constructed, of which 208 are in Kulgam and 96 in Budgam.
Apart from this 1200 flats are being built in Ganderbal, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara. Sites are being identified for the construction of 2744 flats at seven other places.
