Suspension of 12 BJP MLAs of Maharashtra quashed, Supreme Court said unconstitutional.

12 BJP MLAs of Maharashtra have got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has set aside the suspension of 12 MLAs.

During the hearing held on Friday, the Supreme Court quashed the one-year suspension of the MLAs as unconstitutional.

The MLAs were suspended for one year for allegedly misbehaving with the presiding officer.

Supreme Court raised questions on suspension.

Earlier, during the hearing of the case, the Supreme Court had raised questions on the suspension of 12 BJP MLAs for one year.

The Supreme Court had said that suspending MLAs for one year is worse than expulsion and will punish the entire constituency.

A bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari heard the matter.

Who was suspended?

Significantly, among the 12 suspended MLAs were Sanjay Kute, Ashish Shelar, Abhimanyu Pawar.

Girish Mahajan, Atul Bhatkalkar, Parag Alwani, Harish Pimple, Yogesh Sagar, Jai Kumar Rawat, Narayan Kuche, Ram Satpute and Bunty Bhangadiya.

27 Congress councilors join NCP in presence of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

27 Congress councilors today joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Malegaon Mayor Tahira Sheikh has also joined the NCP. Significantly, in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, Congress, and Nationalist Congress (NCP) are running the government together by forming Maha Vikas Aghadi.

There are frequent reports of rifts between the leaders of these parties. Many times such situations have also arisen when it seems that this Aghadi alliance is just about to break.

If we look at the last few times, many Congress leaders have joined the NCP. In such a situation, the rumors of breaking the alliance keep coming to the fore.

According to the information received, there is a total of 84 seats in Malegaon Municipal Corporation. In the 2017 local body elections, Congress emerged as the single largest party with 30 seats.

The second place was followed by the NCP with 20 seats. BJP got nine and Shiv Sena got 12 seats. While Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM got seven seats.

Now Malegaon Municipal Corporation is preparing for the next election. Just before that, the NCP has given a blow to Congress.
