Supreme Court Did Not Grant Relief To AAP MP Sanjay Singh

Supreme Court did not grant relief to AAP MP Sanjay Singh, filed a petition against the cases registered in U.P.

The Supreme Court has refused to pass the order on the petition of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh. In the petition, he had filed a petition for quashing the FIR against him in Uttar Pradesh, including the sedition.

The case will be heard again next week. He had last week moved the Supreme Court to quash the FIR lodged against him in various districts of Uttar Pradesh last year.

He said that these cases were registered maliciously for political vendetta. These FIRs were lodged on him after a press conference held in Lucknow on August 12, 2020.

In a separate petition, Sanjay Singh has also challenged the Allahabad High Court order of January 21, which refused to dismiss the FIR lodged in Lucknow after a press conference on August 12, 2020.

According to him, he had a press conference in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 12 August last year, in which he alleged that the state government was favoring a particular caste over others.

The writ petition, filed through advocate Sumir Sodhi, stated that at the press conference, the petitioner had raised certain social issues such as the government’s neglect and apathy towards a certain section of the society.

Sanjay Singh has said that after the press conference, several FIRs were lodged against him at the behest of BJP members at various police stations in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.

He said that a writ petition has been filed by him to quash the FIR lodged against him. These FIRs were lodged against them maliciously for seeking political vendetta and harassing them.

He said that he is aware of eight FIRs registered in eight districts Lucknow, Santakbirnagar, Kheri, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Basti, and Aligarh.
