State Election Commission’s Decision Challenged In High Court

State Election Commission’s decision to hold Gram Panchayat elections challenged in High Court: Andhra Pradesh.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government of Andhra Pradesh has challenged the State Election Commission’s decision in the High Court to conduct Gram Panchayat elections.

The government demanded a stay on the election process, but could not get any immediate relief from the High Court.

The court is likely to consider the petition on Monday. State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar announced the election schedule on Friday night.

According to which the gram panchayat elections will be held in four phases in February.

While the government has objected to the elections being held now, it wants to hold these elections in May-June.

The ruling YSR Congress alleges that State Election Commissioner Telugu Desam is acting at the behest of party chief Chandrababu Naidu.

While Nimmagadda alleges that the government wants to hold elections after his term ends on 31 March.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress have welcomed the decision of the State Election Commissioner.

State Congress leader V. Gurunadham said that the State Election Commissioners are constitutional bodies and they have the right to issue election notification.

Children rescued from smuggling in Telangana, forced to clean liquor bottles. A case of trafficking of children has come up in Rangareddy district of Telangana.

Here, 15 children who are trying to clean liquor bottles have been rescued by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU).

All these children were smuggled into Kalanagar and Pasumamula villages and installed in liquor bottle cleaning units.

Channabathina Ravi (30), and accused of Shiva Traders who employ children, has been arrested by the police while two others have escaped.

Saved five girls too

Police said that Shiva Traders forced 8–15-year-old children into this task. Where all these children used to work to clean liquor bottles.

Police said that during a raid five girls from the same village were rescued. In another case, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit raided Shri Pavan Putra Plaster Company and Laxman’s Plaster Company.

During this period, 10 children including 9 boys and one girl were rescued, the police said that they all belong to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra.
