The first match of the two-Test series between West Indies and Sri Lanka began on Sunday. The hosts, after winning the toss and bowling first, stole Sri Lanka for just 169 runs in the first innings thanks to the superb bowling of Jason Holder.

Sri Lanka saw only one half-century, which was scored by Lahiru Thirimane. At the end of the day’s play, West Indies had scored 13 runs without any loss.

Sri Lanka cricket team is not taking the name of the bad phase. She also did not recover from poor form in the West Indies after losing to England in the home series.

Sri Lanka, playing in the first Test of the two-match series, was reduced to just 169 runs in the first innings. Winning the toss, West Indies captain Craig Braithwaite decided to bowl first and the bowlers proved it right.

Holder and Sri Lanka heavy on a daily basis.

In the first innings, Sri Lankan batsmen were overshadowed by former captains Jason Holder and Kemar Rose. Together, they took a total of 8 wickets.

Holder took 5 wickets for 27 runs in 17.4 overs, while Roach dismissed 3 batsmen, spending 47 runs in 16 overs. Karim Carneval picked up a wicket.

Thirimane made a half-century.

Only one batsman scored a half-century for Sri Lanka. Opener Thirimane faced a total of 70 runs with the help of 4 fours facing 180 balls.

Wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dikwela smashed 32 off 76 balls. Apart from this, no batsman was able to contribute much. Six of the team’s batsmen could not even reach the double digits.

Former Pakistan captain raised questions on Test Championship, it doesn’t make sense without the India-Pakistan match.

India and New Zealand will face off in the first World Test Championship final of the International Cricket Council. Pakistan’s team did not get a chance to play any match with India during this championship.

Former Pakistani captain Rameez Raja is angry with this. He has questioned the format of the Test Championship. He believes that not all teams get equal chances of winning.

Rameez said, there are shortcomings in this current format and for too long, there is no point in not having a series between India and Pakistan.

Not all teams played as many matches, but the way of distributing points was also amazing. There should have been a time of three months where all the teams should have been given the opportunity to play among themselves.
