Special Congress Meeting Today After Bihar elections

Special Congress meeting today after Bihar elections and the battle between party leaders.

After facing defeat in Bihar assembly elections and by-elections, a meeting of the special committee of Congress, headed by the interim president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, is going to take place today.

According to information received from sources, a meeting will be held at 5 pm today through video conferencing, but its agenda is not clear.

This meeting is taking place at a time when the issue of review in the Congress is emerging after the defeat in the elections.

Kapil Sibal, one of the 23 Congress leaders who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi a few months ago to demand reform of the party.

He has demanded a fresh review of the defeat, following which he has come under attack from fellow Congress leaders.

From Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to Delhi Congress President Anil Chaudhary, Congress leaders are questioning Sibal.

Amidst all this, the meeting of Sonia Gandhi’s advisory committee is giving rise to many speculations.

In August, a special committee was formed to assist the interim president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi on organizational and operational matters.

Ahmad Patel, KC Venugopal, AK Antony, Ambika Soni, Mukul Wasnik, Randeep Surjewala are its members.

Importantly, Ahmed Patel is hospitalized due to ill health. Despite this, questions are arising as to whether a new storm is coming inside the Congress.

Congress lost badly in Bihar

The Congress is being blamed for the defeat of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in the recently concluded Bihar elections.

The RJD and the Left parties had more than 50 per cent success rate in the Grand Alliance, while the Congress could win only 19 out of 70 seats.

In the Madhya Pradesh by-election, the Congress got only nine seats out of 28.

The Congress could not win a single seat in the two by-elections in Karnataka and eight assembly seats in Gujarat. The Congress performance was also disappointing in UP where Priyanka Gandhi is in charge.

RJD leaders have also questioned the attitude of the Congress party regarding the Bihar Assembly elections.

RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari lashed out at the party leadership saying that Rahul Gandhi did not pay attention to the campaigning.

Many senior leaders like former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi did not even campain in Bihar Elections.
