December 18: Mob Killing in Dhaka- Six Hindus Killed in Bangladesh
The first reported case occurred on December 18, 2025, in Dhaka, where Dipu Chandra Das was killed by a mob, according to local reports.
After the attack, Das’s body was reportedly hung from a tree, which was later set on fire. A video of the incident circulated widely online, prompting outrage among social media users.
December 24: Lynching in Rajbari District
On December 24, 2025, 29-year-old Amrit Mandal, also known as Samrat, was beaten to death by a mob in Hosendanga village of Rajbari district.
Police said Mandal was accused by locals of extortion. The attack took place around 11 p.m., and Mandal died before law enforcement reached the scene.
December 29: Factory Guard Shot Dead- Six Hindus Killed in Bangladesh
On December 29, 2025, Bajendra Biswas, a 42-year-old Hindu security guard employed at a garment factory in the Mymensingh district, was shot dead.
Police later arrested a suspect identified as Noman Miah in connection with the killing. Authorities said an investigation into the motive was ongoing.
December 31: Businessman Set on Fire
On the night of December 31, 2025, Khonkon Das, a Hindu businessman, was attacked while returning home after closing his shop.
According to reports, three to four assailants doused him with petrol and set him on fire. Das attempted to extinguish the flames by jumping into a nearby pond and was taken to the hospital with severe burns. He died from his injuries on January 3, 2026.
January 5: Editor Shot in Jessore- Six Hindus Killed in Bangladesh
On January 5, 2026, Rana Pratap Bairagi, the owner of an ice factory in Kapila Bazaar, Jessore, was shot dead.
Bairagi was also the editor of the local newspaper Dainik BD Khobor. Witnesses said assailants arrived on a motorcycle, shot him in the head, and fled the scene. He was declared dead at the location.
January 5: Fatal Attack in Narsingdi
Later the same night, Sharat Chakraborty Mani, a Hindu businessman, was killed in Narsingdi district near Dhaka.
Police said Mani was attacked with sharp weapons and left injured on the road. He passed away in the hospital after being brought there.
Concerns Over Minority Safety
The six killings, reported across multiple districts, have heightened concerns among members of the Hindu community. Rights advocates say the incidents reflect ongoing security challenges faced by religious minorities.
