Shinde Faction Can Withdraw Support From MVA Government

Shinde faction can withdraw support from Uddhav government in 24 hours, will also demand floor test from Governor.

After the Supreme Court’s interim relief to rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, the  Shinde-led faction held an important meeting on Monday.

In this meeting, they indicated that they may meet the Governor within the next 24 hours and submit a letter to withdraw support to the Maharashtra government.

Sources said that the rebel MLAs can also meet the Governor and demand a floor test. There is also news of some other leaders including Shinde going to Mumbai.

Earlier, the Supreme Court granted relief to rebel Shiv Sena MLAs against the disqualification notice issued by the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

The court said the disqualification of the MLAs concerned should not be decided till July 11.

Along with this, the court sought answers on the petitions of the rebel MLAs challenging the legality of the disqualification notice.

However, the top court refused to pass an interim order on the plea of the Maharashtra government, which had sought non-conduct of the floor test in the assembly.

The court said they can approach SC against any illegal move.

A vacation bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice J B Pardiwala also directed the Maharashtra government to safeguard the life, liberty, and property of 39 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs and their families.

Issuing notices to the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the Supreme Court directed him to keep on record the affidavit of no-confidence motion notices given by the rebel MLAs.

The top court also took on record the statement of the counsel appearing for the Maharashtra government that adequate steps have been taken to protect the life and property of the rebel MLAs.

The next hearing of the case will be on July 11.
