Sharad Pawar Warned Against Urban Naxalites

Sharad Pawar warned against urban Naxalites, said- trying to fill the feeling of hatred against the state government.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday claimed that Naxal activities are not confined to remote areas of eastern Maharashtra but urban Naxalization is also being witnessed in big cities of the state.

Pawar was talking to reporters in the state’s Gadchiroli district where 27 Maoists, including Milind Teltumde, were killed in an encounter with security forces on Saturday.

Sharad Pawar warned against urban Naxalites: Pawar said- ‘Urban Naxalisation’

Asked about the Naxal menace in the district, Pawar said the situation was improving but some new incidents were taking place in which some elements were trying to infuse hatred against the government in other parts of the state as well.

“We can call it urban naxalisation. Some similar forces are active in Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, and parts of the Sahyadri ranges, and even in Kerala.”

There is a section that is trying to create hatred and create public opinion against the government.

Let us inform you that Pawar’s party is a constituent in the government of Maharashtra and the Home Ministry is with the minister of his party.

Pawar, a four-time Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, “There is a need to be very careful about this aspect or else a new problem will arise.”

To remind, BJP leaders often use the term urban Naxalism to claim that their supporters and sympathizers are hiding in urban areas.

Advocating for industrial development through mining in Surjagarh

Meanwhile, Pawar advocated industrial development through mining in Surjagarh in Gadchiroli. Recently, local people protested against mining in this area.

To a question whether the local tribes feared losing their livelihood from natural resources due to mining, Pawar said agriculture should be reformed to provide new job opportunities.

He said, ‘I think they should get job opportunities to remove the despair of the young generation here.

Surjagarh will give them this right and opportunity on a large scale and an important and sustainable industry will develop here.
