Serious Radicalization Increased In 4 States

Serious radicalization increased in 4 states including Maharashtra, J&K, study to be done.

For the analysis of radicalization in the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday approved the study.

The purpose of this study is to find out what is the practical solution to Radicalization? How can it be stopped? And how can the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act be reformed.

The study titled ‘State of Radicalization in India’ will be led by GS Bajpai, Registrar of National Law University and Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

According to Bajpai, the study will focus on the process of radicalization. At the same time, the study of targeting radicalization followers and youth will also be done.

This study can be done in states like Maharashtra, Assam, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir, cases of severe radicalization have been reported in these four states.

Teams will be set up specifically for these states.

Teams in these states will study the steps taken by the local police to prevent radicalization.

Bajpai said that our effort is to make a policy document, which can help in developing systematic rules-law to deal with radicalization in the country.

Professor of Criminal Justice said that at present there is no clear legal definition of radicalization

Based on the information received from the study, suggestions will be made to amend the UAPA Act.

Bajpai told media, ‘This study is about the state of radicalization in India. In the study, it will be analyzed what are the patterns and activities of radicalization.

Along with this, the process of targeting the followers of radicalization and their youth will also be studied.

He said that the study will also focus on what kind of people can be targets of radicalization. Followers of radicalization target these targets in a very selective way and this will also be studied.

Professor Bajpai said that we are interested in the idea of ​​de-radicalization. To counter radicalization, we have to prepare a blue print of De-Radicalisation.

He said that we are studying the UAPA Act in particular to differentiate between radicalization and de-radicalization.

He said that about 75 radicalization persons from all states, who are in the process of de-radicalization, will be talked to and samples will be prepared.

Similarly, samples will be prepared after talking to 75 officers and judges of security agencies.

Also, 50 relatives, psychologists, psycho-social workers, counselors, religious and social leaders of those persons of every state will also be talked.
