Senior PDP leader Ramzan Hussain joins BJP, expressing resentment over Mehbooba’s statement on nationalism.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), another senior leader of it, gave a big blow on Wednesday. PDP leader Ramazan Hussain joined the BJP, saying that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not support anyone who tries to insult the nation and the national flag.
According to a press release issued by the BJP, State President Ravindra Raina welcomed PDP leader Ramzan Hussain at the party headquarters. Hussain contested the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir assembly election on a BSP ticket.
However, he was defeated then. He then joined the PDP. Hussain resigned from PDP and joined BJP along with his supporters. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are hopeful of PM Modi’s policies.
Hussain said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are ready to sacrifice their lives to protect the tricolor. The people of Jammu and Kashmir do not support any person (Mehbooba Mufti) who tries to insult the nation and the national flag.
Hussain also said that Jammu and Kashmir are on the right path of peace and development. Praising Hussain’s decision to join BJP, Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravindra Raina said that now he has come to the right place.
Raina called upon Ramazan Hussain to serve the party and the nation with great enthusiasm. Raina claimed that the PDP has insulted the country, forcing senior leaders to leave the party.
Hurt by the statement given by Mehbooba Mufti about the national flag, three other senior leaders of the PDP also resigned from the party on Monday. These leaders said that Mehbooba Mufti’s disputed statement has hurt the spirit of patriotism.
It is noteworthy that PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had told reporters after being released from detention for 14 months that she will hold the tricolor only when the flag of Jammu and Kashmir is restored.
He is not interested in holding the tricolor until the changes in the constitution on Jammu and Kashmir are withdrawn on August 5 last year.
Our relationship with the tricolor is due to the flag of Jammu and Kashmir. This statement of Mehbooba Mufti had warmed the political atmosphere.
