SC Rejects 10-Year Travel Ban On 9 Foreign Members Of Tablighis

SC rejects ten-year travel ban imposed on nine foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat.

The SC rejects the ban imposed on nine foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat for not coming to India for ten years, rejecting the decision of the Karnataka High Court.

These members of the Jamaat attended the program of Nizamuddin Markaz of Delhi during the lockdown due to infection of Covid-19.

A division bench of Justices S. Abdul Nazir and Sanjeev Khanna took cognizance of the petition of one of these foreign members of the Jamaat and pronounced its decree against the High Court verdict.

At the same time, the Supreme Court said that if these people apply for a visa to visit India in future, then their visa application should be taken on merit without coming into effect from the High Court order.

Now the petitioner and eight other people have nothing to do with the High Court’s order of last October 13. The High Court had prevented these people from coming to India for ten years.

During the hearing, these people told the Supreme Court that these foreigners have been issued a permit to go from India. Soon those people will leave for their countries.

At the same time, the central government has stated in its affidavit that 11 members have been blacklisted by foreign members of Tablighi Jamaat.

About 205 FIRs are registered against these 2765 members.

Recently the Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the affidavit submitted by the Center in a case related to media reporting related to the Tablighi Jamaat gathering in the national capital during the outbreak of Corona.

The apex court had said that the Center should look into building a regulatory system to deal with such news served on television.

Not only this, a bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde directed the Center to create such a system and also tell the court about it.

The court told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that earlier you did not file the correct affidavit and now when you have filed it, two big questions have not been answered in it.

This is not the right way. We do not agree with your answer. We want to know from you (Central Government) what arrangements have been made to deal with this kind of content on TV.
