In the money laundering case, Maharashtra government minister Nawab Malik received a setback from the Supreme Court.
The court turns down Nawab Malik’s plea for interim bail. In the hearing held on Friday, the Supreme Court clearly said that it cannot interfere in the matter at this stage.
A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Surya Kant dismissed the petition.
The decision of the Bombay High Court was challenged.
Let us inform you that earlier the Bombay High Court had also refused to grant interim bail to Malik. He challenged the High Court’s decision in the apex court.
The High Court, in its March 15 order, had held that the Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court’s order to remand him in custody does not become illegal or wrong just because it is not in his favor.
SC dismisses plea: ED filed a charge sheet.
Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday filed a charge sheet against Nawab Malik in the case related to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
ED’s lawyers said that a charge sheet of more than 5000 pages has been filed in the court.
He said the special court for cases related to Dawood Ibrahim would take cognizance of the charge sheet after verification of documents.
