The bank said in its statement, ‘It has been said in some media reports that SBI is bringing “On Tap VRS” to cut costs and reduce workforce. The bank is employee friendly and is going to increase its operations, which makes the bank need people. The bank plans to recruit more than 14,000 employees this year.
The bank further said, ‘SBI currently employs about 2.50 lakh employees. The bank has always been at the forefront in taking steps to meet the needs of the employees and help the employees in their life journey. In this backdrop, it was thought to provide a permanent solution to employees who wish to withdraw from their profession due to limitations of further development in the profession, commuting problems, health issues or family situation. ‘
The bank further said in its statement, ‘We wish to give skill to the unemployed youth of the country. We are the only bank in the country which takes trainees under the National Apprenticeship Scheme of the Government of India.
Two public sector banks, Bank of Maharashtra and Indian Overseas Bank, have reduced their MCLR by 0.10 per cent for loans. According to Bank of Maharashtra, it has reduced MCLR from 7.40 per cent to 7.30 per cent and 7.30 per cent to 7.25 per cent, respectively, on one-year and six-month loans. The bank’s new rates are applicable from Monday.
