Sanjay Raut’s letter unites the opposition on the political use of central agencies, know on which issues the opposition will surround the government.

The issue of misuse of government agencies against opposition leaders will be on the main agenda of the political tussle in the second phase of the budget session.

Opposition parties, already raising questions over the political use of central agencies.

They have decided to organize a united debate on the issue in the House following the latest complaint by the ED that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was being harassed.

There have been informal discussions between the opposition leaders on the alleged attempts of the ED to put pressure on Raut.

It has been agreed that in the second phase of the budget session, the top priority of the opposition will be to discuss the issue of the Pegasus espionage scandal, attack on federal structure as well as political abuse of investigative agencies.

In the first phase of the budget session, the House will now run for only two days and there was no scope for debate on any issue other than the motion of thanks and the discussion on the budget.

During the informal discussion, many leaders supported Sanjay Raut and said that this is not only his personal issue.

Sanjay Raut’s letter unites the opposition: Sources said that in this political fight, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has assured Raut of his full support.

Raut, in a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu, has complained to the ED of adopting various tactics to falsely implicate him and sought his intervention to protect democracy.

In this, he has made many serious allegations of pressure on the ED at the behest of the BJP and the central government.

Raut has sent a copy of this letter to all opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Kharge, Derek O’Brien, Ram Gopal Yadav, Satish Mishra, Manoj Jha, Trichy Siva.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has also assured Raut of being with him on the issue.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar also sent out a clear message that it is now inevitable to warn the government with a united voice of the opposition against the use of agencies like ED and CBI.

The NCP even officially issued a statement in support of Raut on behalf of the party.
