Sanjay Arora Appointed As New Delhi Police Commissioner

Sanjay Arora appointed as the new Delhi Police Commissioner to replace Rakesh Asthana.

Senior Indian Police Service officer Sanjay Arora has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police. He is originally from Jaipur and is a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre.

Presently posted as Director General (DG) of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Before this, BSF has also held important positions in CRPF.

Rakesh Asthana’s term ends today. In such a situation, Sanjay Arora will take his place.

Sanjay Arora holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur (Rajasthan).

After joining the IPS, he served in various positions in the Tamil Nadu Police.

He had also achieved great success in the campaign against the infamous sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, for which he was awarded the Chief Minister’s, Gallantry Medal.

Delhi Police constable sentenced to life imprisonment kidnapped friend and murdered him.

A local court in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar has sentenced a Delhi Police constable to life imprisonment for kidnapping and killing a friend.

Additional District Government Advocate Ashish Tyagi gave this information on Sunday.

Ashish Tyagi said that Additional District and Sessions Judge Jai Singh Pundir sentenced Delhi Police constable Pradeep to life imprisonment for kidnapping and killing his friend Jaiveer and also imposed a fine.

One of the accused Bittu had died during the hearing of this case.

According to Tyagi, the police had registered a case against Pradeep and his associate Bittu, a Delhi Police constable, and his associate Bittu on October 30, 2008.

The case was registered under relevant sections in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Jaiveer Singh, a resident of Bhaura Khurd under the Bhaurakalan police station area.

In the complaint lodged with the police, Sohanveer Singh, brother of the deceased Jaiveer Singh had alleged that constable Pradeep had kidnapped and killed his brother Jaiveer with the help of Bittu.

Jaiveer and Pradeep had an earlier friendship and he had given two lakh rupees to Pradeep. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the sessions court convicted Pradeep.
