Saji Cherian Resign: Resignation of Kerala Minister Saji Cherian for making an anti-constitutional statement, know what was the controversial remark.

Kerala’s Minister for Cultural Affairs and Fisheries Saji Cherian has resigned, for making controversial statements regarding the Constitution.

Earlier, the opposition alliance UDF staged a sit-in outside the Kerala Assembly on Wednesday morning, demanding his resignation against Cherian’s anti-constitutional remarks.

Not only this, there were protests in different parts of the state demanding his resignation.

Later, the minister and senior CPI(M) leader Cherian met media persons at the Chief Minister’s Office and announced that he had submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

He is the first minister to resign from the second LDF (Left Democratic Front) government led by Vijayan.

Amid demands for his sacking from the opposition, Cherian said it was his independent decision to step down as the minister.

Saji Cherian Resign: He insisted that it was never his intention to disrespect the Constitution. He has the highest respect for the Constitution.

Cherian said in his press conference that his recent statements were misinterpreted. They were cropped and propagated. As a result, a wrong message was sent that he had insulted the Constitution.

He said, ‘I am hurt by this kind of presentation of what I said. I also believe that the aim was to destabilize the ruling Left government.

It is Congress and the BJP which have failed many times to uphold the glory of the Constitution.

Reacting to Saji’s resignation, senior Congress MLA and former state minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan said it was his anti-constitutional speech that led to his resignation.

However, while announcing his resignation while addressing the media, he did not express regret for his controversial statement regarding the Constitution.

This was a controversial remark about the constitution.

Minister Saji Cherian had said that everyone says that this is a well-written constitution, but I would say that it was written to loot the people of the country.

It may also be mentioned here that amidst mounting pressure for the resignation of Cultural Affairs Minister Cherian, senior leaders of the CPI(M) also held a meeting on Wednesday and discussed the current scenario.

Chief Minister Vijayan and State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also participated in the meeting.

Although while leaving after the meeting, Cherian had said on the question of resigning himself, why should he resign, it is a different matter that he resigned after some time.
