RRR, The Kashmir Files, and Gangubai Kathiawadi set earnings records in the first quarter of 2022, read the full box office report.

The year 2022 began with the release of films postponed due to fears of a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and there was silence at the box office in January.

However, by the time of February, Omicron’s affairs started getting under control, and following the protocols, the films started releasing in theaters and with this, the box office started returning to its old tone.

After initial hesitations, audiences started returning to theaters in late February, and in March, the business of films in theaters was back on track.

The biggest achievements of the first quarter of 2022 are Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, and RRR while the biggest failure was Bachchan Pandey.

Gangubai Kathiawadi was the first entry into 100 crore club.

Badhaai Do, the first release of 2022, hit theaters on February 11, after restrictions were imposed after Omicron’s cases were relaxed in December.

The film, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, collected around 20 crores.

After this, on 24 February, the Tamil film Valimai was also released loudly in Hindi, but surprisingly it was rejected in the Hindi belt.

Gangubai Kathiawadi, the first much-awaited film of the year, hit the theaters on February 25. Audiences flocked to the theaters to witness the first Jugalbandi of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt.

By collecting about 128 crores, Gangubai Kathiawadi cut the ribbon of the 100 crores club and became the first big success of 2022.

However, after this Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund, which came on March 4, received praise, but could only get 17 crores at the box office.

The Kashmir Files’ first 200 crore film.

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, hit the theaters on March 11, leaving box office maths stunned.

As a small release, the film, which hit the theaters, became so big that it inaugurated the 200 crore club and in 20 days of release, the film has reached around 240 crores.

It is expected that this film made on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits will make a lifetime collection of 250 crores.

With this, the Telugu film Radhe Shyam, riding on big claims and expectations, was a complete failure.

Radhe Shyam, which was released on the pan-India level, could only collect around 20 crores in the Hindi belt and was registered as the first major failure of 2022.

Bachchan Pandey was the first big disappointment.

Once on March 18, there was a hope of making a splash at the Phil box office, when Akshay Kumar’s famous film Bachchan Pandey came.

But the surprise was when Bachchan Pandey sat down after the opening weekend and was reduced to a business of about 50 crores.

However, Akshay later blamed the wave of The Kashmir Files behind the failure of Bachchan Pandey. Bachchan Pandey became the first major Bollywood failure of the year 2022.

First 400 crore film – RRR.

And then on March 25, the most awaited film of Indian cinema RRR.

The film of Baahubali director SS Rajamouli had high expectations from the trade as well as the cinema lovers and the film did not disappoint anyone. RRR box office is running at a stormy pace.

Released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi along with Telugu, the film has collected a net collection of 400 crores in all languages.

While the film’s net collection has been 120 crores in the Hindi belt only.

Rajamouli is expected to make a big collection from this film. RRR has also slowed down the pace of The Kashmir Files.

If we look at the combined business of all these films, there has been a net collection of about 800 crores at the box office in the first quarter.

This has given a strong start to the first quarter of 2022 and has given a great farewell to the financial year 2021-22.
