The National Child Rights Protection Commission (NCPCR) has given the streaming platform Netflix time till Thursday to remove objectionable scenes from the web series Bombay Begums.
On 8 March, the Commission sent a notice to Netflix objecting to certain scenes of the series released on International Women’s Day.
Bombay Begams is directed by Alankrita Srivastava. On March 11, the commission sent a notice to Netflix asking them to remove it from the platform due to objectionable content related to children in the show.
Along with this, the response was summoned from Netflix within 24 hours, which warned of legal action if it is not followed.
It was said in the notice – such content will not only contaminate the minds of children but can also lead them on the path of exploitation.
Netflix should take special care in broadcasting content related to children. The commission expressed displeasure over the erotic and drug scenes shown on the minorities.
