According to a charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a special court in a money laundering case.

Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor told the central agency that he was “forced” to buy MF Hussain’s painting from Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The money received from this picture was used by the Gandhi family for the treatment of Sonia Gandhi in New York.

According to the charge sheet filed in a special court in Mumbai, Kapoor informed the ED that he was forced to buy the painting by the then Petroleum Minister Murli Deora.

According to the information given by the ED, Deora had told the promoter of Yes Bank that the proceeds of the sale of the painting were used for the treatment of party interim president Sonia Gandhi.

The charge sheet filed by the agency states that the Congress leader had also given several lures to Kapoor in return for the purchase of MF Hussain paintings.

Kapoor told the ED that he was also promised the Padma Bhushan award and more business in return.

Rana also alleged that Congress leader Ahmed Patel had also spoken in the painting case and tried to create pressure.

Money laundering case on Rana Kapoor.

A case has also been registered against Rana Kapoor for illegally giving a loan of Rs 1900 crore to Gautam Thapar’s Avanta company.

The ED has alleged that a bribe of Rs 300 crore was paid to Kapoor to get a loan of about Rs 1,900 crore from Yes Bank to Gautam Thapar’s company.
