Ahead of the monsoon session, Rajya Sabha MPs were reminded of the code of conduct, ‘advice not to insult any religion’

In the midst of a controversy going on for some time due to religious remarks in the country, today MPs have been advised to avoid it.

Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting on Monday, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat has once again reminded the MPs of the ethical code of conduct applicable to the members.

The MPs have been asked not to comment on any religion.

Rajya Sabha Secretariat said-

In a statement issued by the Secretariat, it has been said that all the members are informed that the Ethics Committee has said that the MPs will have to follow the code of conduct.

The committee said that it has recommended that the code of conduct may be published on the eve of each session for the information and compliance of the members.

Parliamentarians have been told that they should make constant efforts to realize the ideals set out in the Preamble of the Constitution.

Keep the faith of the people MP.

The code of conduct states, “The members of the Rajya Sabha must accept their responsibility for upholding the confidence of the public in themselves and work diligently to discharge their mandate for the common good of the people.”

They should have high regard for the Constitution and the law. The Code states that parliamentary institutions and the general public are above all.

Members have been asked not to do any work which tarnishes the image of Parliament and affects their credibility.

He should properly use his position as a Member of Parliament to further the general welfare of the people.

Advice to MPs in the code of conduct.

The code of conduct states that the members should always see that their personal financial interests and that of their family members do not come into conflict with the public interest.

If any such conflict ever arises, they should endeavor to resolve the issue in such a manner that the interest of the public is not at risk.
