Rajnath Singh Arrives At Navy Headquarters

Rajnath Singh arrives at Navy headquarters, will address a conference of top naval commanders. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reached the Naval Headquarters today. He will address the Naval Commanders Conference today. The top commander of the Indian Navy will discuss in detail the changes in the maritime security structure of the region and the border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh in a three-day conference starting on Wednesday.

The main focus of the conference will be a review of naval operational preparedness as well as issues related to Indian security interests in the Indian Pacific region. China is rapidly increasing its military presence in the Indian Ocean region. According to a statement issued by the Navy, the conference is of great importance given the background of recent developments on the northern borders and the unprecedented challenges posed by the Corona epidemic.

This is the first conference of naval commanders after the establishment of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) and the post of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). According to the statement issued by the Navy, the Naval Commanders’ Conference will consider a joint planning framework, coordination of the three services and measures to increase operational preparedness, as well as work-related restructuring in the Navy to increase efficiency.

Officials said all possible security challenges in the Indian Ocean, including China and Pakistan, will be considered in detail at the conference. The Indian Ocean is very important for Indian strategic interests and China is steadily increasing its presence in the region. China has built ports in Gwadar in South Pakistan and Djibouti in the Horn of Africa.

In the last few weeks, the Indian Navy has also deployed several frontline warships and submarines in the Indian Ocean region, giving a clear signal to China. Navy commanders will also interact with other senior government officials during the three-day conference. According to the statement, in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of SAGAR (security and development for all in the region), the commanders also discussed a major security imperative in the Indo-Pacific.
