Rahul Gandhi’s visit increased rift in Rajasthan Congress, pro-pilot engaged in making a new strategy.
After the visit of Congress President Rahul Gandhi to Rajasthan, the Congress leaders of the state have increased rather than ending the camp.
The distance between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot became clear during Rahul Gandhi’s visit.
Gehlot and Pilot were together in four meetings held in two districts for two days, but both appeared far and wide. This time, Gehlot was in full command of Rahul Gandhi’s visit.
He tried his best to keep the pilot away from Rahul Gandhi. In two out of four meetings, the pilot was not even given a chance to speak.
At the meeting held in Pilot’s old parliamentary constituency Rupangarh, Congress National Secretary General Ajay Maken brought him down from the stage. However, it was strongly opposed.
The people who came to the meeting shouted slogans. To calm the people shouting slogans, several ministers including Maken, state medical minister Raghu Sharma, were seen running around the ground, but the crowd did not calm down.
Standing behind Rahul Gandhi, President of the State Congress Committee urged people to join hands and keep calm. While giving the speech, Rahul Gandhi also had to urge people to remain calm, but his appeal had no effect.
When Rahul and Gehlot boarded a vehicle and started leaving for the Makrana meeting in the Nagaur district, people shouted loud slogans. The policemen kept the crowd from reaching their car.
His supporters also expressed displeasure at Rahul because Sachin Pilot’s vehicle in Rupangarh was being blocked from joining the convoy.
The pilot was not given a chance to speak at the gathering held in the Hanumangarh district on the first day of Rahul Gandhi.
Pilot-supporting legislators and leaders accompanied party general secretary KC Venugopal, who was present with Rahul Gandhi during the visit.
Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit ended on 12 and 13 February, but the tussle between Gehlot and Pilot camps increased rather than earlier. The supporters of both now openly made it to the ground.
Angered by Rahul Gandhi’s disregard for his visit, the supporters of Sachin are now gathering more and more crowds at the Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held at Kotkhavada in Jaipur district on 17 February.
Sachin Pilot has so far conducted two maha panchayat in the state. Gehlot camp is angry with this activity.
The MLAs of the Pilot camp are not leaving any chance to surround their own government in the assembly. They are now working on a new strategy to strengthen themselves within the party.
