An impeachment motion can be brought against the Chief Election Commissioner; the opposition will play a big bet amid the uproar over ‘vote theft’! In the atmosphere of the Bihar elections, the opposition parties have opened a front against the Election Commission. After ordering Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit, the opposition is preparing to bring an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress MP Nasir Hussain has said that the party will use all democratic methods, including an impeachment motion if needed.
Given the Bihar elections, the opposition parties have opened a front against the Election Commission on the allegations of SIR and ‘vote theft’. Yesterday, the Election Commission had ordered the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, to file an affidavit within 7 days. At the same time, the opposition is preparing to bring an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar by playing a new bet.
Congress party’s Rajya Sabha MP Nasir Hussain also broke his silence on this and said that the party is ready to use all democratic methods. If needed, an impeachment motion will also be brought.
If needed, we will use all the methods under constitutional rules. So far, we have not talked about impeachment, but if needed, we can do anything.
Yesterday, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar termed all the allegations made by the opposition, including ‘vote theft’, as false. He said that if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has evidence related to these allegations, then he should file an affidavit with all the evidence in the Election Commission within 7 days or apologize for misleading the people.
Reacting to the CEC’s order, Rahul Gandhi said, “The Election Commission is asking for an affidavit from me, but when BJP MP Anurag Thakur had made the same allegations against him, why did the Election Commission not ask him to file an affidavit?”
