PV Sindhu And HS Prannoy Enter Second Round Of MMB

PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy enter Malaysia Masters second round, Saina Nehwal out of Malaysia Masters Badminton.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu on Wednesday made it to the second round of the Malaysia Masters badminton tournament.

But London Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal was knocked out in the first round in her second successive tournament.

Seventh-seeded Sindhu defeated He Bing Xiao of China in a women’s singles match that lasted almost an hour.

With this win, world number 7 Sindhu avenged her straight games first-round loss to Bing Xiao in the first round of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 tournament last month.

Sindhu defeated Bing Xiao 21-13, 17-21, 21-15. However, the Chinese player still has a win-loss record of 10-9 against Sindhu.

London Olympics bronze medalist Saina, on the other hand, went down 21-16, 17-21, 14-21 against Kim Ga Eun of South Korea despite winning the first game.

World number 24 Saina also crashed out of the Malaysia Open Super 750 tournament last week after losing in the first round.

In men’s singles, HS Prannoy also advanced to the second round while B Sai Praneeth and Parupalli Kashyap also made it to the second round by registering opposite wins.

Prannoy defeated Bryce Leverdez of France 21-19, 21-14. Praneeth, on the other hand, defeated Guatemala’s Kevin Corden 21-8, 21-9 in less than half an hour.

Parupalli Kashyap came back from a game to beat local contender Tommy Sugiarto 16-21, 21-16, 21-16. Praneeth will now face Li Shi Feng.

Sameer Verma, however, lost 21-10, 12-21, 14-21 to fourth seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in a tough contest.

In women’s doubles, N Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa were defeated by Indonesia’s Fabriana Kusuma and Amalia Prativi 21-19, 18-21, 21-16.

German tennis player Korpasch Corona positive after Wimbledon match, the fourth case in All England Club

German player Tamara Korpasch, who criticized Harmony Tan for being out of a doubles match, has been found positive in the Kovid-19 investigation.

Korpasch said on Instagram that she withdrew from her next tournament in France after testing positive for the coronavirus.

This is the fourth case of Covid-19 among players who compete or plan to compete in the ‘All England Club’.
