Punjab Govt Will Give Jobs To The Relatives Of 104 Farmers

Punjab govt will give jobs to the relatives of 104 farmers and laborers who died in the movement, the decision taken in the cabinet.

The Punjab cabinet has put its stamp on providing government jobs to the kin of 104 farmers and laborers killed during the farmers’ agitation.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday. Approval has been given to give jobs to these heirs.

Along with this, the Chief Minister has given instructions to relax the concerned departments to ensure that the kin of farmers who lost their lives during the struggle are provided employment.

The Chief Minister made it clear that he wanted government jobs to be provided to the family members of all the farmers of Punjab who lost their lives in the struggle against the agricultural laws.

Earlier, the Chief Minister was empowered to make further changes in the rules by approving the proposal of the Cabinet to relax the candidates not covered under the Government of Punjab policy on compassionate appointment dated November 21, 2002.

Punjab govt will give jobs to the relatives of 104 farmers: The said policy is applicable to govt employees and persons who have sacrificed their lives fighting for the country.

The legal heirs of farmers/agricultural laborers who lost their lives in protest against agricultural laws during the Kisan Andolan are not covered under this policy and need their approval/relaxation.

Mother, father, married brother, married sister, married daughter, daughter-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, heir, etc. of the deceased farmers and laborers shall be eligible for employment as recommended by the Deputy Commissioner in connection with the decisions of the Cabinet.

For this, a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Personal.

The members of the committee included Secretary/Special Secretary Revenue, Secretary/Additional Secretary/Special Secretary Agriculture, and Special Secretary or Head of the Department concerned.

The committee considered the cases of 104 candidates by 26 July 2021 and recommended the deserving candidates for employment. A letter was also issued by the Revenue Department in this regard.
