There is now a protest like Sri Lanka Crisis in Iraq. Hundreds of outraged protesters in Baghdad on Wednesday occupied the parliament building.

According to the leading news agency report, the protesters are supporters of an influential cleric. The protesters infiltrated the Green Zone late at night and kept on moving forward.

After this, they reached the Parliament House and started protesting here. It is being told that these people have come to protest against the nomination of the Prime Minister by the Iran-backed party.

He let the protesters in easily. Protesters have protested the candidacy of former minister and former provincial governor Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

Both are the choice of a pro-Iranian coordination framework for the premiership.

Protesters also carried pictures of Shia leader al-Sadr on Wednesday. Police first used water cannons to disperse the protesters who demolished the cement walls.

Police were deployed to stop the crowd at the main gate, but at two entrances of the Green Zone, a crowd of protesters started gathering, after which they broke the cement wall put up by the police.

They shouted slogans “Al-Sudani, out!” These protesters came from many cities in Iraq.

At the same time, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi has asked the protesters to immediately vacate the Green Zone.

He warned in a statement that the security forces would take all possible steps to “protect state institutions and foreign missions, and to prevent any damage to security and order”.
