An elderly man allegedly burnt his son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters to death on Saturday in a property dispute.

Later the accused was taken into custody. One of the family members saw the fire and called for help, but the neighbors could not save them as a huge fire engulfed all four.

One of the neighbors said that Hamid was seen throwing a bottle full of petrol at the house.

Petrol was deposited in at least five bottles.

A senior police officer said, “It was a planned murder as Hamid had stored petrol in at least five bottles.” Along with this, the water tank in the house was also emptied so that the fire could not be extinguished.

He said the scene inside the house was heart-wrenching as the burnt bodies of the father and the younger daughter hugged each other tightly.

It was very difficult to separate the bodies for investigation. During interrogation, Hamid admitted that he committed the crime because of a dispute with his son over family property.
