Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi has been appointed the new chairman of the Union Public Service Commission, UPSC. PTI has given information in this regard.

According to the information received, Professor Joshi’s term as the new chairman of UPSC will be till May 12, 2021. Professor Joshi was earlier the chairman of both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.

He joined UPSC in May 2015 as a member. However, despite the appointment of Professor Joshi as Chairman, the post of a member in UPSC is still vacant.

At the same time, Bhim Sen Bassi, Air Marshal AS Bhonsle (retired), Sujata Mehta, Manoj Soni, Smita Nagaraj, M Sathiawati Bharat Bhushan Vyas, TCA Anant and Rajiv Nayan Choubey are the other members of UPSC.

Before that, the chairman of UPSC has been Arvind Saxena. He took over as the chairman of the UPSC in November 2018. The former chairman became a member of the UPSC on 8 May 2015, besides working as a director of the Aviation Research Center (ARC) before joining the UPSC.

At the same time today, that is, on August 7, 2020, after his age of 65 years, his tenure has ended today. With this, the name of the new chairman has been announced.

It is worth noting that Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts examinations for other posts including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), which are among the most prestigious posts in the country.

This exam takes place in three stages. It consists of preliminary, main, and interview examinations. Recently, the Commission released the result of the Civil Services Examination 2019.
