Preparations begin for the Bonalu festival in Telangana, state government to renovate temples during the festival and provides financial assistance: Bonalu Festival.

Mahakali is worshiped on Bonalu festival, Bonalu festival of Telangana is a traditional Hindu festival in which Goddess Mahakali is worshipped.

It is celebrated annually in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as in other parts of the state.

This festival is celebrated in the month of Ashadha, which according to the English calendar falls around the month of July or August.

Devotees perform special “pujas” for Yellamma (one of the many regional forms of Mahakali) on the first and last day of the festival.

They consider this festival as a way of thanking the Goddess for the fulfillment of their wishes.

Preparations begin for the Bonalu festival: Renovation of temples noble initiative.

In an interaction with the media, Katamaisamma temple priest K. Kashia said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government headed by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken this noble initiative since 2014.

He further said ‘From the time of my ancestors, for almost 70 years, we have been worshiping at the Katamaisamma temple at Dabirpura.

TRS is providing financial assistance of Rs 25,000 for the temple renovation works after the government came to power.

With this help, works like painting, coloring, tents, and lighting is done. We are happy with the government that it is providing assistance to such small temples.”

This assistance is given every year.

Another temple priest said, “We have been getting help since the formation of Telangana state.

The state government is providing financial assistance for the renovation and development of small temples every year during the Bonalu festival.

Earlier, we never used to get any money from the government. The KCR government is doing good work for the temples by releasing funds every year.
