Positive Development On Northern And Western Borders

Positive development on northern and western borders talks with China on- Army Chief.

The 14th Corps Commander level talks between India and China are going on. Meanwhile, Army Chief General MM Naravane has held a press conference.

The Army Chief said that the Corps Commander level meeting is going on right now and I hope that we will see progress in it in the coming days.

Although there has been a partial disengagement, the danger has not subsided.

Naravane further said that since January last year, there has been positive development on our northern and western borders.

On the northern borders, we maintained the highest level of operational preparedness. Along with this, we also remained connected with the Chinese army through dialogue.

He said that after continuous joint efforts, mutual separation has taken place at many places about which I have been telling you from time to time.

Certainly, there has been a positive development in the last year. I hope you see more development in the coming days.

Let us inform you that New Delhi and Beijing are negotiating the Line of Actual Control in the Eastern Ladakh region to resolve the standoff. So far 13 rounds of talks have taken place.

Increase in the number of terrorists

Naravane also said that there has been an increase in the number of terrorists in various launch pads on the Western Front.

There have been repeated attempts to infiltrate across the Line of Control. This once again exposes the nefarious designs of our western neighbor.

Nagaland case probe continues.

The Army Chief said that the unfortunate incident that took place in Oting in Nagaland on December 4 is being investigated thoroughly.

He said that we are committed to the safety of our countrymen even during the operation.

After the December 4 firing incident in Mon district, the Army had ordered a ‘court of inquiry headed by a senior officer of the rank of Major General posted in the Northeast region.

In Nagaland, 14 civilians were killed in firing by security forces during an anti-militancy operation, sparking outrage in the state. A jawan was also martyred in the clash after the incident.
