Police Will Not Be Able To Pressure Good Citizens: New MVR

Police will not be able to pressure good citizens to identify themselves: New Motor Vehicle Rules. New Motor Vehicle Rules, Government has added a new section 134A in the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. This rule will protect the interests of good citizens who help victims of road accidents.

Due to this new rule, now police officers will not be able to pressure such good citizens to reveal their identity or give any other personal information. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has published rules to protect the interests of citizens.

These rules are for good citizens. Good citizens should not be discriminated against on the basis of religion, nationality, caste or gender. These people should be treated with respect. No police officer or any other person will be able to pressure these good people to reveal their name, address, and other personal information.

Under these rules, every government and private hospitals will also have to put this charter in Hindi, English, and regional languages ​​on their website and necessary places.

There will be a detailed mention of the rights of good citizens. If the person who helped the victims of the road accident is willing to witness the incident voluntarily, then he should take action based on other rules of the Motor Vehicles Act.

No longer have to have a license nearby

A part of the changes notified by the Central Government under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 came into effect from October 1. Under the new Motor Vehicles Act 2019, other documents including DL will no longer have to be kept with you.

All these documents will now be available on the online portal. This paper can be uploaded to DigiLocker or M-Transport. The records on the portal will contain the date and time-stamp of the inspection.

Police officers in uniform will be identified to avoid unlawful harassment of drivers and to re-examine or inspect vehicles. Along with this, e-challan will be released on the portal.
