PM Modi Will Address The High-Level Meeting Of The UN

PM Modi will address a high-level meeting of the United Nations today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a high-level meeting of the United Nations on desertification, land degradation, and drought today.

PM Modi will address this meeting through video conferencing.

Prime Minister Modi, will address virtual high-level dialogue of the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), at 7.30 pm today .

The meeting was convened in support of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir.

The meeting is to assess the progress made in fighting land degradation and determine the way forward on global efforts to regenerate and restore healthy land.

According to the advisory issued by UNCCD, the meeting will be attended by world leaders, ministers and government representatives, agricultural industry leaders, representatives of UN institutions.

As well as international organizations, and civil society groups as well as members of the general public.

Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the high-level program will be coordinated by Amina Mohamed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ibrahim Thiaw.

Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and Coordinator of the Union of Women and Autonomous Peoples of Peel, Chad (AFPAT).

The will also address Oumarou Ibrahim as well as heads of state and government, ministers, and senior UN officials.

This CBD will place land restoration for climate, biodiversity, and disaster risk reduction at the heart of the entire SDG agenda and along the route to CBD COP15, UNFCCC COP26, UNCCD COP15, and the 2021 Food Systems Summit.

The aim of the dialogue is to focus the attention of the international community on land issues and generate the political will to implement land solutions within the COVID-19 adaptation and recovery strategies.

It will encourage all member states to adopt and implement land degradation neutrality goals and national drought plans.
