PM Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa over the phone. In this conversation, the two leaders reviewed cooperation and development between the two countries in bilateral and multilateral forums.

According to information shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed a number of burning issues. Not only this, the two leaders agreed to work together to deal with the challenges of the Corona epidemic.

In this dialogue, there was a discussion on maintaining regular contact between the officials of the two countries.

The statement issued by the PMO said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again reiterated that Sri Lanka holds an important place in India’s policy of neighbors first.

It may be known that India has helped Sri Lanka greatly in the Corona crisis. India has gifted five lakh doses of the Covishield vaccine of Serum Institute to Sri Lanka.

It is worth mentioning that this conversation has taken place at a time when there is increasing solidarity against China in the world.

Just a day earlier on Friday, the first meeting of the heads of the Quad countries was held in view of China’s growing aggressive attitude in the Indo-Pacific region.

This meeting between India, America, Japan, and Australia is being compared to the first meeting of NATO held in Paris in 1957, diplomatically informed.

Sri Lanka recently suspended the use of China’s Covid-19 vaccine cyanoform. Sri Lanka will use the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India for vaccination, as reported by the news agency.
