Petrol & Diesel Became Cheaper By Rs 7 In This State

Petrol & diesel became cheaper by Rs 7 in this state, so prices in some states crossed Rs 100.

While the price of petrol and diesel is increasing every day in the country, the Meghalaya government on Tuesday further reduced the value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel.

So that the price of these petroleum fuels in the state becomes cheaper, vat has been reduced to more than five rupees per liter.

This was announced by Chief Minister Konrad K Sangma. Sangma held a review meeting with his cabinet members and senior officials, in a decision taken after the meeting, the petrol price in the state was cheaper from Rs 91.26 to Rs 85.86 per liter.

Similarly, the deal has come down from Rs 86.23 per liter to Rs 79.13. The state government gave a discount of two rupees on these fuels last week.

The Chief Minister said that due to this, the price of petrol has become cheaper by Rs 7.4 and diesel by Rs 7.1. The commercial vehicle operator in the state is on strike. VAT on petroleum fuel was reduced on the second day of the strike.

VAT reduced

The government has reduced VAT on petrol from 31.62 percent to 20 percent or Rs 15 per liter (whichever is higher). Similarly, VAT on diesel has been reduced from 22.95 to 12 percent or Rs 9 per liter, whichever is higher.

After the daily increase in oil prices, Congress and other opposition parties have attacked the government. The opposition has demanded the government reduce tax.

On the other hand, on Wednesday, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in Parliament that excise duty will not be reduced on petroleum products.

On Tuesday, global oil standard Brent crude futures fell 0.09 percent to $ 63.24 a barrel. Petrol and diesel prices are almost triple due to excise duty, VAT, and dealer commission charges.

Today, petrol reached Rs 100.07 in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. XP petrol in Bhopal went at Rs 100.44 per liter.

Rajasthan has the highest VAT rates on petroleum products. Last month, Rajasthan reduced VAT on petrol and diesel by two rupees per liter.
