Pakistan’s Coalition Government Will Complete Its Term

Pakistan’s coalition government will complete its term, PDM chief denied the possibility of general elections: General Elections In Pakistan.

PDM president Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said the Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government will complete its constitutional term and the next general election will be held on time.

The JUI-F chief made the announcement after chairing a meeting of top coalition officials following the Supreme Court’s decision in the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) election case.

He said the elections would be held on time and the assemblies would complete their term.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Rehman said important decisions were taken during the meeting and the forum has unanimously passed both resolutions.

“It was decided that the federal government would send a Presidential Ordinance to the Supreme Court for the interpretation of Article 63A through a full court bench,” he said.

Pakistan’s coalition government demanded to announce the decision in the funding case

As reported by local media, the resolution states that as per the Constitution of Pakistan, the executive and the judiciary have been given responsibilities and no institution should cross the jurisdiction of another.

The PDM expressed concern over the recent Supreme Court ruling which has created “chaos, confusion, and political crisis” in the country.

The resolution further states that the various standards and interpretations of justice justified the concerns of the ruling coalition, so the President’s reference should be sent to the Supreme Court at the earliest.

In the second resolution, the PDM chief said, the coalition demanded the ECP to immediately announce its decision on the prohibited funding case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

On Tuesday, the Pakistan Supreme Court declared “illegal” the decision of Punjab’s deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari in the election of Punjab chief minister and ruled that PTI’s candidate Pervez Elahi would be the new CM of the province.

“The country’s representative parties have expressed their concern on this issue.

Legal experts, media, and civil society also disagree with the decision,” the resolution said.

The meeting was attended by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and party vice-president Maryam Nawaz. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Aurangzeb.

Aftab Sherpao, Owais Noorani, Tahir Bijenjo, Ghafoor Hydari, and others also participated in the meeting.

Pakistan’s ruling coalition and rival former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and allies are expected to begin talks on the date for the new general elections.

According to a local media report, its date is expected to be in October 2022.
