Over 100 car accidents, many vehicles stranded amid heavy snowfall in South Korea.

South Korea’s Gangwon province witnessed more than 100 traffic accidents amid heavy snowfall on Sunday.

Authorities said several parts of Gangwon province received heavy snowfall from Saturday to Sunday, including Mount Misiryeong which received 55.9 cm of snow.

The ridge and 52.3 cm of snow fell on Hyangrobong mountain, the news agency reported.

Heavy snow fell on a section of the highway in the coastal county of Goseong in the afternoon, stranding about 10 vehicles in the area.

Drivers struggled to get their cars out of the frozen snow for about 1 1/2 hours before police, fire, and military officials removed them.

Several stretches of roads in Sokcho and Yangyang were temporarily blocked as authorities had difficulty deploying snowplow trucks due to the accumulation of snow.

Police estimate that the latest snowfall caused more than 100 traffic accidents. No one has been said useless or severely injured.

Gangwon Governor Kim Jin-Tae convened an emergency meeting of the province’s city and county officials and urged all officials to clear the roads of snow.

Plane crashes at Pokhara airport in Nepal, 68 dead.

A plane crashed Sunday morning in Pokhara, Nepal. An official from the Nepal Aviation Authority said 68 bodies have been recovered from the 72-seat plane so far.

It has been more than 30 years since such a horrific accident occurred in Nepal, an army spokesman said.

Krishna Bhandari told the news agency that rescue teams were at the scene and more bodies would be found. Citizens of these countries were on the plane.

Yeti Airlines ATR 72 had taken off from Kathmandu for Pokhara on Sunday morning, but the plane crashed in Pokhara in the Kaski district. Rescue work continues after the accident.

For this reason, the airport was closed for the time being. At the time of the crash, there were 68 passengers and 4 crew members on board the Yeti Airlines plane.
