The pair of Indian tennis legends Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes have had an interesting relationship.
OTT platform ZEE5 is coming up with a new show BreakPoint on their partnership in sports and the interesting equation between them in personal life.
It is a seven-episode web series, whose first look was released on Friday.
ZEE5 wrote on the poster shared on Instagram – They gave Indian tennis an identity, but when the world was on their feet, they got separated from each other.
It’s time to tell the untold story of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes. Let us tell you, this show is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. This is the first project for both of them together.
Talking about the direction of ‘Break Point’ Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari said in a shared statement- “It is great to bring such a series on-screen on a home video streaming platform like ZEE5.
Icons like Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander It was amazing working with him and bringing his untold story to the screen is something we will always cherish.”
Leander Paes said about the show- “Mahesh and my on-court partnership was widely covered and our off-court chemistry was highly anticipated.
This is the first time our fans will get to see and hear it all. Mahesh and I have worked really hard to bring India to the top of world tennis and we are glad that we are getting a chance to present our story to the world like never before.
Mahesh Bhupathi shared, “I’m hesitant when it comes to communicating, so it’s a big step to re-live the journey and present it in the most candid and honest way possible.
But, at the same time, I’m happy that Our fans will get to witness our journey which was a combination of sweat, perseverance, brotherhood, and sometimes blood and tears.”
Break Point’ is a tale of Paes and Bhupathi’s friendship, partnership, faith, hard work, and ambitions, which made them one of the most dangerous doubles pairings of the late 1990s and even the world number one in 1999.
Also, the bitterness of their breakup will also be highlighted in the show. It is the story of two friends who planned for success, but not for life after success.
