Notice to the state government on the petition of former Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy. The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice and sought a response from the state government on the petition of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Kumaraswamy has filed a petition challenging the special judge to take cognizance against him in a corruption case without proper sanction. A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and MR Shah issued notice to the Government of Karnataka and the complainant in the case and sought their reply in six weeks.
The bench said, “Notice should be issued to ask if the special judge can take cognizance without approval and reply should be filed in six weeks.” The case relates to a personal complaint made by Ms. Mahadev Swamy before the Special Judge under the Prevention of Corruption Act. It has sought prosecution against Kumaraswamy and others.
Chennai: Founder of Adyar Cancer Institute said goodbye to the world at the age of 93. Dr. V Shanta, the founder of Adyar Cancer Institute, located in Tamil Nadu, died today in the capital Chennai. At the age of 93, she said goodbye to the world.
She was admitted to a private hospital in the city last night after complaining of chest pain. She was undergoing treatment here. After her death, her body was taken to the Old Cancer Institute campus, which she had collaborated with her mentor Dr. Krishnamurthy to build.
Veteran oncologist V. Shanta has also been awarded several awards. She was awarded the Padma Shri 1986 in the year 1986 and the Padma Bhushan in the year 2006. She was famous for providing accessible treatments for cancer.
She has also been awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award. Dr. Shanta was the President and Executive Chairman of the Cancer Institute (WIA) Chennai. She worked on disease studies, caring for patients up to 50 years of age.
