NHRC notice to Union Home Secretary in Amnesty case. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Union Home Secretary in the case of Amnesty International.
Amnesty International has announced to close its operations in India, accusing the government of harassment. According to the media report, the NHRC said in its statement that the Amnesty International Organization had seized all its bank accounts in the country by the Government of India. Afterward, all of their work has been stopped.
The statement said that the NHRC has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and issued a notice to the Home Secretary seeking response to Amnesty International’s allegations.
Earlier, Amnesty International had said that it was obliged to remove its employees in India and shut down all its operations and research operations. However, the government had denied all of Amnesty International’s allegations and said the institution was violating the country’s laws.

The availability of drugs in India has increased during the last decade. It is now more easily available to people than before. The consignment of drugs in the country is mostly coming from Pakistan. In a recent report by the Euriporter, it is said that there is a drug transaction across the border and then it is sent to India by infiltration.
At the same time, a survey of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine states that many important steps have been taken to stop the consumption and supply of drugs, but still it has not been successful in stopping it.
According to the survey, 78.10 percent of drug suppliers have stated that earlier they used to consume only drugs, but later they started providing it to their friends as well. Of this, about 56.54 percent of the drug users have now become suppliers.
They say that most of the consignments are coming from Pakistan through infiltration. Not only this, but drugs are also being supplied through Nepal and Afghanistan. The survey report is based on information from jailed drug suppliers.
