Negotiations held between Punjab’s farmer leaders and Agriculture Minister Tomar and Railway Minister Goyal.

The day-long negotiations between the farmers’ organizations and the Center, which were agitating in Punjab against the law passed by Parliament to improve the agriculture sector, did not yield any results.

The next round of talks will be called soon

The talks, which started at 11 am on Friday, lasted several rounds till late evening, but the deadlock did not break. However, the two sides have agreed to call the next round of meetings soon.

Farmer leaders adamant on withdrawal of new laws and legal MSP

Farmer representatives are being assured by the Center that these laws have been brought in the interest of farmers.

While the farmer leaders are adamant on withdrawing these laws and making the minimum support price (MSP) legal.

Farmers Unions will meet in Punjab on November 18

On November 18, the leader of the farmers union has agreed to come to the talks again after discussions with all its farmers associations and farmers in Punjab.

At the beginning of the talks, Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar addressed the representatives of major farmer organizations from Punjab.

Agriculture Minister Tomar said – Central government favors farmers

He explained in detail about the law passed from Parliament and said that his government is supportive of the interests of farmers.

These laws will revolutionize the agriculture sector and help farmers to increase their sustainable income.

There will be market access to the farmers’ houses, so that the small farmers will not have to face the traders to sell their produce.

They will have enough options. Tomar mentioned some of the major provisions of the law and said that farmers across the country have welcomed it.

There will be no hindrance in government procurement on MMPs: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal

In the meeting, Consumer, Food, Commerce Industry and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal mentioned the difficulties faced by the common people from the farmers’ movement.

He said that there has been tremendous progress in the procurement of crops including paddy during the Kharif season.

He also assured the farmer organizations that there would be no hindrance in the government procurement of their produce on the MMP. It will continue as before.

He called the confusion being spread about it unfair and inaccurate. He also mentioned the difficulties caused by his movement on the rail tracks.

Marathon talks held in Vigyan Bhavan in several rounds

Negotiations with farmers’ organizations started at 11 am which went on throughout the day, but the solution to the problem could not be found.

In the talks held before this, the leaders of the farmers union made their point of turn.

Almost all union representatives proposed to withdraw these three laws of agrarian reform and enact legislation for the statutory obligation of MSPs.

A presentation by the Ministry of Agriculture gave details of the work done in the interest of the farmers.

Agriculture Secretary said – Due to the stubbornness of the farmers representatives, a solution could not be reached.

Even before the convening meeting on Friday, Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Aggarwal had talked to the farmers’ organizations, in which they were told about the specifics of the law.

But due to the stubbornness of the farmers representatives, the meeting could not solve the problem. Farmer leaders had boycotted the meeting alleging that the Agriculture Minister was not there.
