Neeraj Chopra created history by winning a silver medal in World Athletics Championships.

India’s Neeraj Chopra has created history in the World Athletics Championship held in Eugene, USA. He won the silver medal in the Javelin Throw event by throwing the javelin 88.13 meters away.

He has become the first Indian to win a silver medal in this championship. Prior to her, Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal in the long jump event in 2003.

But, Neeraj went a step ahead of him and won the silver medal. Neeraj had secured a place in the final in the javelin throw qualifier by throwing the javelin 88.39 meters away in the very first throw.

He was first and overall second in Qualification Group-A. The gold medal was won by Grenada’s current world champion Anderson Peters. He threw 90.46 meters javelin.

Earlier, Neeraj ended a 120-year drought in these games by winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year.

He became the first player to win a gold medal in the track and field event for India and now he has made another achievement by winning the silver medal in the World Championship.

Before Neeraj, no Asian player had won a medal in the javelin throw at the Olympics. At the same time, he has also become the first player to come on the podium in the World Championship.

After the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra threw 89.30 meters at the Pao Normi Games on June 14, while he threw 86.79 meters at the Kuartane Games on June 18.

In the Diamond League, Neeraj’s spear was successful in covering a distance of 89.94 meters.

However, in the final, he could not cover this distance in a single throw.

His best throw in the final was 88.13 meters and due to this, he was successful in winning the silver medal.

Neeraj’s first throw was a foul. He threw 82.39 meters in the second throw, 86.37 meters in the third, and 88.13 meters in the fourth throw. But, his fifth and sixth throws were fouls.

Rohit Yadav of India was also at the same event. He finished 10th with a throw of 78.72 meters. Neeraj has become the first athlete to win a silver medal in this championship.

Also, he is the first Indian male athlete, who has won a medal in this championship.
