NCP leader Sanjay Shinde was going from his car on the Mumbai-Agra highway, during which his car got short-circuited and the car caught fire near the Pipalgaon Baswant toll plaza. He could not get out due to the car door being locked and he died inside.

It is being told that NCP leader Sanjay Shinde was a grape exporter from Nashik district and was going to Pimpalgaon to buy pesticides. According to the police, seeing the fire in the car, Sanjay Shinde stopped the car and tried to get out but he could not get out due to the doors being locked.

By then the fire had spread so fast in the car that he died on the spot. There was also a sanitizer bottle inside the car, an official said, adding that we suspect that due to the sanitizer the fire in the car would spread very fast as it is a flammable substance.
