NCP leader Nawab Malik seeks release from Bombay High Court, filed a petition.

Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik have approached the Bombay High Court to quash the money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Malik, in his petition, has said that his arrest is illegal and has sought his release from the court. Significantly, the NCP leader was arrested by the ED on Wednesday (23 February).

He is accused of buying property from close friends of Dawood Ibrahim. Apart from this, the ED is also investigating cases related to money laundering.

His house was raided by the ED team at around 7 am on Wednesday. After this, the ED had brought him with him. He was arrested after about six hours of interrogation.

Arrested for buying land worth crores in rupees.

After Malik’s arrest, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had busted the entire case.

The ED had told the court that minister Nawab Malik had grabbed a plot worth Rs 300 crore from Munira Plumber through a company allegedly for a few lakh rupees.

The name of this company is Solids Investment Pvt. And the owner of the company is the Malik family.

The ED alleged that Malik was running the company with the help of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar and other members of the D gang.

In this regard, plumber Munira told in a statement given to the ED that he has a plot of 3 acres in the Gowalla compound of Kurla.

Salim Patel had taken five lakh rupees from him to vacate the illegal possession and settle disputes over this land, but he sold this land to third parties, while Salim was never asked to sell the property.

Not only this, on July 18, 2003, the paper related to the transfer of ownership of the land was not signed. He was not aware that Salim Patel had sold this land to someone else.

The trial adjourned against Malik in a contempt case.

The Bombay High Court adjourned for a week the hearing in the contempt case against Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik.

The contempt petition has been filed by Dhyandev Wankhede, father of Sameer Wankhede, former director of NCB’s Mumbai Zone.

The petition has been deferred on the ground that Nawab Malik is already in custody in the money laundering case.

Dhyandev, in his petition, claimed that Nawab Malik had told the court in December last year that he would not make any derogatory public remarks against Wankhede on internet media. Despite this, he was doing so.

A division bench of Justice SJ Kathawala and Justice MN Jadhav had issued notice to Malik in the matter.
